There is no doubt that the Copper John is one of the most successful nymphing patterns out there. However, there is one huge problem with successful patterns, everyone (and we mean everyone) has them in their fly box and is fishing them.
While this might not be an issue early in the year, when fish are warming up and biting at anything that resembles a food source, it can be an issue later in the year when they start wising up a bit.
